The Cambridge Roar is a festival of charity events raising funds for worthy causes such as East Anglian Air Ambulance, Arthur Rank Hospice Care and Cambridge United Community Trust. Since its conception back in 2014 they have raised over £55,000 for their nominated charities. This year was the first for the Corporate Games event and it was a great day filled with obstacles and challenges and various team-based games.
There was a Sprint Tunnel where we each took turns running at full speed past a speedometer that recorded our best efforts. As you can imagine, that one was pretty intense!
There was an obstacle course which needed to be completed entirely on a Segway. This was a daunting task at first but thanks to the help on hand provided by Extreme Adventure we quickly got to grips with the concept and were whizzing around in no time!
For those with a keen eye for accuracy there was Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting which proved to be a lot of fun and with a lot less mess to clean up afterwards compared to traditional clay pigeon shooting.
A particular favourite event for TEAAAM 24 was the Giant Zorbing Balls relay race. Despite the weather on the day being extremely sunny it was still great fun to be running around the specially designed inflatable track and working as a team to get the fastest times possible. We had quite a few goes at this one because it really was an absolute blast!
For a bit of a change of pace there was also an assault course that needed to be completed by a remote controlled Little Land Rover with a loose tennis ball on top. This event was all about patience and a steady hand and, as you can probably guess, things got heated!
It was a fantastic day for everyone here and it was also a great chance to meet other colleagues within the Cambridgeshire business community, including a lovely barbeque in the sun after the festivities were over. We will absolutely be getting involved with the Corporate Games again next time however in the meantime we will be exhibiting at the Roar stand next week at the B2B Exhibition on Thursday 29 June at Quy Mill Hotel and Spa. Be sure to come by and say hi!
