They operate across a range of sectors including defence, education, housing, industrials, power, transport and utilities.
The Group employs over 24,000 people in its operations in the UK, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Hong Kong.
The Challenge
The brief was to produce a Quality Conversation Engagement Tool, providing an easy-to-use and effective mechanism for issuing, recording and reviewing site observation engagement on Kier Building UK projects.
This bespoke app would form part of Kier’s Behavioural Change Programme, which aims to drive a continually improving cultural change towards Safety, Health, Environmental and Business Assurance.
The solution
Designed for use within the construction and sign phase of Kier projects, the completed app provides pre-populated information relative to the employee and current project. With the user at the forefront, it:
- gives clear visual options to record whether the event is ‘positive’ or ‘negative’
- allows easy selection of the type of issue
- gives an importance rating of the scale of the incident.
It also adopts recognisable iconography and touchpoints, and integration of the device’s camera to provide quick insertion of a photo/video of the incident.
The result: a quicker, easier and more effective solution for the recording of positive recognitions and negative occurrences, with the recorded information from the incidents forming more accurate statistical data for assessing and analysing supply chain performance.
